Canadian Red Cross Ten Steps to Creating Safe Environments for Organizations and Communities Course

The purpose of the Ten Steps course is to equip businesses, organizations and communities to manage risk by preventing and responding to violence, abuse and bullying proactively through a customized action plan. 



Who should attend

- Any adult involved in the leadership of a business, organization or community. 


Course content

Upon completion of the Ten Steps course, participants will have customized their own concrete action plan for their business,

organization or community. They will be able to apply the Ten Steps, identify systems and procedures required to prevent violence,

and recognize the appropriate processes available to report violence and respond to disclosures. 

This course is presented in eleven modules:

1. Introduction to the Ten Steps to Creating Safe Environments
2. Understand the Problem of Violence
3. Recognize People’s Vulnerability and Resilience
4. Define Protection Instruments
5. Create a Prevention Ream
6. Complete a Risk Assessment for Your Setting
7. Develop Policies and Procedures
8. Educate Adults, Youth and Children
9. Respond to Disclosures
10. Meet the Challenges to Creating Safe Environments
11. Maintain Safe Environments




Assignments

Learners complete their own customized Ten Steps to Creating Safe Environments Action Plan as they work through the course. This assignment will not be graded. 


Completion 
A short pre-test and post-test measure learning. Upon successfully completing all modules, there is a printable certificate for your records.
